As partners and friends of the International Science Tourism Network, we invite you to strengthen the dissemination of your projects on the platform https://scientific-tourism.org To date, 13 “scientific tourism” initiatives show forms of involvement of scientific research actors, operators, local organizations, visitors and students. A summary and other scientific and practical information summarizes the project for its promotion.
Publicizing your activities helps to promote scientific and technical exchanges, attracting scientists, students or volunteers to your projects in order to strengthen them. Today, the information available on the web site concerning these initiatives reaches a wide audience both national and international (300 monthly visits on average, Chile 30.2% – United States 11.1% – France 9.3%). The first to know about the network’s information and the scope of your initiatives are the 50 scientific partners from different universities and research and development centers (from Latin America, Canada and Europe) and the groups they work with (students, colleagues and friends).
THE ADVANTAGES OF BEING A MEMBER ARE
1) to be able to participate in the annual general assembly that guides the INST network and elects its board of directors
2) to eventually be part of the scientific committee of the network (following a peer review, based on its experience and existing scientific articles and works).
3) to benefit from the help of the scientific committee and the members to guide your initiatives
4) to receive newsletters and updates.
5) to be able to download files, publications, articles, courses and other useful materials for research and development of scientific tourism.
This platform seeks to strengthen these activities and Scientific Tourism label to show their quality and relevance.
To consolidate or present an initiative, a form is available on the web site (https://scientific-tourism.org/initiatives/applications/?lang=en) to be completed and sent to a coordinator. The coordinator assists the elaboration of the form and sends it for peer review to the scientific committee of the network to corroborate its relevance and its contribution to scientific research, the strengthening of local communities and the dissemination of scientific knowledge (in general and to visitors in particular). With the committee’s green light, the coordinator publishes the project on the platform.
The cost of publishing an initiative, including coordination and validation of the proposed project, has a value of US$ 50 to 80, depending on the updating plan and support chosen (up to 3 updates during the first year). The updating of the initiative for the following years is 30 US$. The company responsible for the management of the site is Growbetter.agency, it issues an invoice or receipt for this service. It should be noted that the network does not sell products and only promotes the initiatives of its partners.
For an initiative to appear on the website, it must be associated with an active member. The membership fee for the network is 50 USD/year. A member must be a representative of an institution, a scientist, a student, a director or a coordinator in charge of a project that links science (all disciplines including subjects associated with sociology and “traditional knowledge”), tourism and involves the valorization of scientific knowledge. The application for membership is made by e-mail and the sponsorship of an active member of the network. A member of the network may not have an initiative in diffusion on the website.
