The project develops a study and diagnosis of the knowledge of scientists and local entrepreneurs on heritage, cultural and scientific issues of the Palena River basin from the steppe area, bordering Argentina, the town of Lago Verde and up to La Junta, the Carretera Austral and Raúl Marín Balmaceda, at the mouth of the Palena River and the Pacific fjords.

The first step was to identify relevant topics based on existing scientific publications (studies) associated with the geographic sector. Then we seek to identify entrepreneurs, actors or owners of the localities that have cultural, tourism, conservation or traditional productive initiatives linked to tourism, taking into account public and private conservation zones and areas with natural, cultural, economic and social relevance.

The initial survey is a desk study and then the information is shared with entrepreneurs in the area who are interested in these topics and in the development of scientific tourism. The project will have phases and development of actions carried out in coordination with other regional socio-cultural organizations.

The results of this study will provide information about the potential for scientific tourism in the area and recommendations of heritage landmarks to highlight and scientific tourism initiatives that could be carried out in the future.
